Joanne Zumpano was appointed to Tiretown Golf Charities Board of Directors in February 2024. The University of Akron graduate has served Summit County communities as educator and volunteer with several organizations – including the Women’s Board of Summit County Juvenile Court.
Zumpano, who lives in Copley with her husband of 51 years, Ron, has Bachelors in Science Education and a Masters of Education. She has also taught English as a second language during her more than 30 years of teaching, mostly in Akron Public Schools.
An Akron native, Zumpano graduated from Our Lady of Elms, is the mother of three and the grandmother of eight.
Zumpano retired in 2007 but remains active in many volunteer organizations – including the Mass choir at St. Hilary. TESOL k-12 certification BOWLING Green.
In addition, Zumpano, who earned a TESOL K-12 certification at Bowling Green University, participates in the following:
- Organize meals at St. Bernard’s monthly Wednesday meals for the working poor and homeless.
- member of Blessings in a Backpack and pack weekend bags of food for students at Helen Arnold and other APS schools
- volunteer cooking and picking up food for Genesseret soup kitchen in Akron
- Twiggs volunteer Akron Children’s Medical Center
